Year 4 visit to Heron Corn Mill
Year 4 visited Heron Corn Mill on Friday 20th October to learn about how the mill was powered and how gears work. During the visit, we completed lots of activities which made us think of how machines are powered and made. We worked together in teams to create machines that used cogs and gears and were amazed that such a long machine could be powered by one handle and one person. The miller told and showed us lots of information about how flour is made and how the water wheel powers all the machines.
Stuart, the STEM teacher, helped us to build a working water wheel using Knex. It really made us think and we created some fanastic water mills.
A great day for all.
