Y3 Neuro Diversity Word Art

We created art in the shape of brains using words we thought of when we were talking about neuro diversity. We decided that the world would be very boring if we were all the same.
Y3 Art In The Park
Year 3 had a great time in the sunshine, drawing in Williamson Park. We looked at the Raku Sculpture and the stone figures on the Ashton Memorial as we have been studying sculpture in art. We combined our art visit with our Big Lent Walk.
World Book Day in Year 3

Year 3 all looked amazing today in their World Book Day costumes. We had a great day talking about and writing stories. We even designed statues of our favourite book characters to link with our art topic on sculpture.
Lent in Y3

Today is Ash Wednesday, so after we went to church we changed the cloth on our prayer table to purple for Lent. Then we decorated paper flowers with what we are going to do in Lent to grow closer to God.
Lancaster Lowrys Y3

We have been creating pictures in the style of Lowry. We used photographs of Lancaster and recreated them with sketching pencils then highlighted the pictures using watercolour paints. Can you spot where in Lancaster the images are from?
Y3 Fractions Challenge

We have been learning about fractions. As our challenge task today we were trying to find out how many different ways we could shade half of a 4 x 4 square. How many ways can you think of?
Y3/4 Christmas Party

Year 3 and Year 4 had great fun at our Christmas Party this afternoon. We danced lots and played lots of games.
Y3 Night Light Construction

We have finished our designs, cut our wood and now we are starting to build our night lights.
Y3 Trip to Lancaster Castle

On Tuesday, Year 3 went on a trip to Lancaster Castle. We had a great time and found out all about the part the Castle has played in the history of Lancaster. We were also very pleased that we did not get rained

Light experiments with Year 6

Year 6 and Year 3 joined forces this month to explore the wonderful world of light. Both classes got together to investigate light, shadows, transparency, opaqueness and translucency! Phew! Try saying that 3 times fast!
Y3 Artist Visit

Today, we had a workshop with the artist Shane Johnstone, who created the Venus and Cupid sculpture on Morecambe sea front. He taught us how to make shadow puppets. We had great fun and are looking forward to him coming back next week.
