Year 3 Class Information
The Year 3 Team
Mrs Beveridge is the class teacher and is supported by Mrs Haywood who is also in class each day.
Mrs Parker and Mrs Copsey also support different parts of the curriculum during each morning.
Mrs Copsey teaches the class during teacher release time (PPA) on a Monday afternoon.
School is open from 8.35 and parents are welcome to come to the classroom and see what we are working on. At 8.45 school starts and parents need to leave so we can start our school day.
PE is on Monday (swimming) and Wednesday, so please ensure your child has a full PE kit on those days. (Please see the website for details).
Earrings cannot be worn for PE and shoulder-length hair needs to be tied back.
Reading – this is the most valuable task that your child can spend time on. Please find time to regularly share a book and discuss what they are reading. The children are responsible for telling us when they need their books changing; they then choose their next book within their level of the reading scheme.
Maths – your child has already been given their mental arithmetic workbook. Each week, 1 page of work should be completed, which is made up of 3 parts. It should be handed in each Monday and it will be returned on Wednesday. If your child is concerned about any that are tricky, please ask at any time or just have a go!
Times Tables – the expectation is that times tables for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 up to 12x should be known confidently by the end of the year. Any home practice will be valuable!
Spelling – although spellings will be given each week, this is not for a formal test. These are the spellings that they will be using in a wider context each week.
Project – each half-term, your child will have 3 tasks to complete from a selection. This will follow on and support work done in class. Project work needs to be handed in the Monday after the holiday.
PLEASE MAKE SURE READING BOOKS, DIARY, MATHS WORKBOOK AND PROJECT BOOK ARE KEPT IN BOOK BAGS AND BROUGHT INTO SCHOOL EACH DAY.
Please come and see us if you have any concerns, issues, or just to see what we are doing!
Come to the classroom each morning between 8.35 and 8.45, or on the playground after school at 3pm.
Longer meetings can be arranged by calling the school on 64686, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
