We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new families who will be joining The Cathedral Catholic Primary School this September.  We want you to feel relaxed and eager to join us, and also to be familiar with our school and the staff who will be working with your children during their first year at our school.

What happens now?

Once your child has been offered a place at school we will write to you and invite you to attend a welcome evening for parents in June. This is a chance for you to meet the staff, see the environment, meet other parents and ask any questions that you may have about your child’s first year at school. We will have school uniform on display and there will be a chance for you to sample Carla our cook’s delicious food.

On this evening we will also arrange opportunities for your child to come to school and spend time in the indoor and outdoor classrooms and get to know each other and the staff.  We will also arrange to visit your child in a familiar environment. This can be your home or your child’s nursery provision, whichever you prefer.

You will also find out about the induction process which happens over the first three weeks in September. The aim of the induction is to make sure that the children settle quickly and get into the daily routines of school. We know from past experience that this is a very successful process for teachers, parents and children alike.

If you have received notification that your child has been successful at acquiring a place at our school, we look forward to meeting and welcoming you in May.
