Welcome to our website, which I hope will provide you with a glimpse of our school life. I feel extremely proud and fortunate to be the Headteacher of this very special school. At The Cathedral Catholic Primary School you will find a warm, welcoming family atmosphere with a love of learning where all potential is unlocked.

We are situated in the heart of the beautiful historic city of Lancaster where our children live, learn and grow in God’s love. Our school is founded in the Catholic faith and all our actions reflect our belief that every child is a gift created in the image of God. We openly welcome children from all faiths and backgrounds and every child flourishes in our care and love. In 2017, we were the first Primary school to be awarded School of Sanctuary which shows we are a community where everyone is valued, nurtured and encouraged to fulfil their God-given potential. Our school has very strong links with St Peter’s Catholic Cathedral and is at the heart of our multi-cultural community.

We not only aim to teach children to the highest educational standards but we teach them about the teachings of Jesus and how our faith is built upon the gospel values. We teach our children about God, life, friendships, how to treat others with respect, other faiths and how to carry themselves through life as kind and thoughtful people. In school, we encouraging the children to make the right choice but also how to try to put right our wrong choices through tolerance and forgiveness.

Our curriculum is broad, relevant, creative and progressive which engages children in an exciting and stimulating way to enable them to become active citizens of the world. Staff work very hard to establish and maintain an effective partnership with parents throughout all year groups and classes. We also provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities and strong pastoral support.

I believe pupils, staff and families who have or have had the privilege of being associated with our school will be able to identify how the school seems to engage, enthral and captivate all those who have been fortunate to have played a part in its amazing heritage which dates back to 1851.

Please do come and visit so you can truly experience what is so special about The Cathedral Catholic Primary School.
