This week, is Refugee Week, nationally and in school. We started the week with a whole school Celebration of the Word where we reflected on Jesus' teaching in Matthew's Gospel:
A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew (adapted from Matthew 25: 31-46)
One day, Jesus was talking to his friends and he said:
One of these days I will say:
“When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat.
When I was thirsty you gave me something to drink.
When I was a stranger, you made me feel at home.
When I was cold, you gave me something warm to wear.
When I was ill, you came to see me.”
Then you will say:
“When were you hungry and when did we give you something to eat?
When were you thirsty, when did we give you something to drink?
When were you a stranger, when did we make you feel at home?
When were you cold, when did we give you something warm to wear?
When were you ill, when did we come to see you?”
Then I will say:
“If you tried to help anyone at all, you did something for me!”
In our classes, this week, we are reflecting on how we can welcome others in our words and our actions. On Friday, our GIFT team have organised a home clothes day to raise money for Global Links which is a Lancaster organisation that helps refugees and asylum seekers.
