What a fantastic day we had today! We celebrated the feast day of St Peter who is the patron saint of our parish and school. Mrs Holt began the day by leading a whole school assembly to tell everyone about her recent visit to Rome, where she met Pope Leo XIV. She showed us some photos of a statue of St Peter and of the Pope himself. Following assembly, each class used drama and artwork to learn about an event in the life of St Peter. At lunchtime, we joined the parish for Mass in the Cathedral, celebrated by Father Philip and Deacon Chris. Deacon Chris reminded us that St Peter began the passing on of our faith, like a relay baton and here we are, still passing on this baton of faith today, through our words and actions.

After Mass, we enjoyed a whole school picnic in the playground before a visit from an ice-cream van. There was a lovely atmosphere as children and staff enjoyed the ice-cream treat and the extra long playtime!

Some of the artwork from our day will be on display at the back of the Cathedral in the coming weeks.
