We spent a beautiful Autumn day in the lovely surroundings of Leighton Hall today. We spent time learning about how important bees are and the process of pollination, then we spent time in the gardens exploring what was grown. We had a go at making our own 'bees', mini bug hotels and wild flower 'bombs' to plant in the spring.

The afternoon was spent in the orchard learning about apples and doing lots of 'apple-y' things! We designed our own, collected windfalls, chopped them up and bashed them up with a mallet. These were then put into a press and squeezed to collect juice for us to drink. We even roasted apple pieces that had been dipped in sugar - so delicious!
